Michi punches Ironman Worlds Ticket in Lake Placid

With a strong 5th place finish, Michi secured his Ironman World Championship slot for Nice.

After a non-wetsuit swim and with a water temperature of approximately 22,5 C, Michi exited Mirror Lake in 55:31 After the first round, he was still with the group of the eventual winner, Joe Skipper, but lost touch with them in the second round after the Australian Exit due to the Age Grouper "traffic".

On the 180-kilometer ride through the Adirondack Mountains he clocked the second-fastest bike time behind Joe Skipper, finishing in 4:24:14. The course was slightly longer than in 2022, and conditions were likely somewhat slower due to the cooler morning temperatures. All bike stats are available on Strava.

Thanks to a consistent marathon time of 2:52:11 with an accurate course distance and over 400 meters of elevation gain, Michi was able to secure a strong 5th place finish under good conditions.
