The native Austrian had an outstanding performance overall, finishing 2nd behind the Champion, Marino Vanhoenacker.

Weiss was more than happy with his day on course, recapping with “this race is a very promising testament to what I will be able to do in Kona. This season I have worked a great deal on measuring my performance, especially on the bike, and discovering new ways to improve power, speed, and efficiency.”

The final version of the “road map to Kona" will be developed in the upcoming days. It promises to include several 70.3 events and a final lead-up in the U.S.

Ironman recently announced the amended swim start times for the World Championships. The pros start, as in the previous years, at 6:25am (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run). The professional women start five minutes later. The amateur field will start 30 minutes later.
